Jamaica these are ingrained in you just culturally and so those were hard to get for me to emotionally let go of but I had my time with them and as I was making that transitional stage that’s when I was able to kind of take my time and let go of them having them you know a few times a week and then you know slowly limiting myself it’s not something to be ashamed of that I had those foods so I honor that and I celebrate it and I had my time with me now by Vegan diet plan I’ve just moved on to something different when it comes to building muscle or changing your body it comes down to your protein your carbohydrates and your fats those are available for you and any sort of diet I’m able to build muscle without eating meat because all you use protein and so yes meat has protein but there’s so many vegan sources of protein out there from pea protein brown brown rice protein remember that green leafy vegetables also contain protein so there’s so many different sources of protein in the vegan world it’s all about just getting in the right amounts for whatever your body goals are at the end of the day what’s gonna make green vegan more convenient is the knowledge that you have about your grocery store the ingredients in your favorite dishes how to make your favorite dish vegan take it one step at a time and so that might mean for you a vegan Monday that might mean vegan dinners throughout the entire week for the large large majority of people trying to pursue this lifestyle it’s not more expensive it can be just as cheap with what you’re already doing you [Music] – You know, tactically people will try to guilt people into going vegan.
I don’t think that it’s what it should be about. It should be a place that you arrive to naturally and organically for you because you’re seeing so much information that leads you in that direction.
Vegan Diet Plan Observed
For me the time when I started competing, health and fitness were one and the same, right? To me if you look a certain way it was reflected because of how healthy you were. And what I noticed immediately after my first two to three shows, was every day on show day I felt like absolute crap.
I didn’t feel great. I looked the best I’ve ever looked, but I felt horrible. And so I was looking for ways to just be healthier. For me that was one of the ways I started to think about veganism and started a Vegan diet plan in a proper manner.
I have to do things healthier, rather than in a way that’s not sustainable. You know, dropping the carb for three weeks and only having protein, protein, protein, but my body needs carbs and my brain is no longer functioning at a high level because there’s no carbs to fuel it.
I felt I had to be a better way to do that. Then I just was at work one day, I saw a video by Annette Larkins, a 70-year-old vegan. And when I saw that video, and the way she looked, and the way she moved, and then I just did a little research, and looked at older vegans, I made a decision that day that I was gonna go vegan by starting my Vegan diet plan properly.
That was it for me. I wanted to move that way, I wanted to feel that way, and look that way, not just now but well into my 70s. And I thought what better time to start but now. I knew for me I had to do a Vegan diet plan in stages.
I wasn’t gonna do it cold turkey. I wasn’t even sure what I could have, I just knew I wanted to go vegan ’cause she was vegan. So I had to make that change for me so I could stick to it. I wanna give up red meat at the first of the next year, and then I’m gonna go pescatarian the following year, and then after that, I’ll go vegan.
When I went vegan and gave up dairy, which was the last part about it, my energy went through the roof. So I even tell people if you’re not gonna go vegan by doing a Vegan diet plan if you can cut dairy out then go that route.
My family’s from the Caribbean, so like curried goat and oxtail, like ackee and saltfish is the natural dish of Jamaica. I’m able to build muscle without eating meat because all you need is protein. And so, yes, meat has protein, but there are so many vegan sources of protein out there from peanut protein, brown rice protein.
